Field Trips at Heritage Community Garden and Park

The Heritage Community Gardens is a recently established community garden open to the public located in Georgetown, Texas. We are encouraging families with young children, daycares, schools, after school programs, church youth groups, and anyone else to come visit us and learn through hands-on activities the benefits of gardening and exploring nature and how it promotes a healthy, active lifestyle.

These hands-on activities are scheduled in a 2-hour fun filled, jam packed, investigative journey through gardening, nature, nutrition, and physical activity. They include:

  • Preparing healthy snacks

  • Crafts

  • Fun physical activities

  • Science/nature explorations and investigations

  • Reading and relaxation

So contact us today if your youth group, classroom, daycare, or playgroup is interested in things like:

  • Making and eating ants on a log

  • Building and flying kites

  • Digging for worms

  • Resting under a shade tree to read books...

(Just to name a few of our exciting activities!)

Due to a decrease in funding to support these field trip activities, the Health District will need to charge a $2.00 fee per child attending a field trip as of January 1, 2006. This money will be used to purchase craft, science, physical activity supplies and ingredients for snacks. These supplies will be used by the children as they rotate throughout each station. Thank you for your understanding and support.

To inquire about a Spring field trip contact the Williamson County & Cities Health District, Community Health Promotion Division at (512) 943-1497.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!
